Pittsburgh record label, Nightfall Records, will host a public vigil for Mac Miller at Frick Park, also known as Blue Slide Park, on Tuesday, September 18th, at 5 p.m. EST.
The blue slide playground inside Frick Park inspired the Pittsburgh native when crafting his acclaimed 2011 debut album titled Blue Slide Park.
“We would like to bring the city together in full force for this legendary icon,” reads the event’s description. “Mac deserves to be sent off with an evening of celebrating his life, discussing his struggles, and remembering his stories; most importantly for his iconic work that brought joy into the lives of everybody who listened. We are welcoming all artists to come and paint, create, draw, live tribute art for this event.”
Many artists have paid tribute Mac Miller during recent performances, including Drake, J. Cole, G-Eazy, Childish Gambino and more.
“He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends, and fans,” Mac’s family said in a statement. “Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy.”
An official cause of death has not been released.
