I absolutely love it when your two lead actors have amazing chemistry. And that’s exactly what you get in the new movie, Let Him Go, starring Diane Lane & Kevin Costner. Playing the grandparents to a young grandson, whose mother remarries into a dangerous family, after the death of their son.
Now I’m thinking this one played straight to the fact that I’m a parent, and it also reminded me of my parents. And what we would do if we happened to find ourselves in the exact same situation. So this one got me emotionally hooked right away.
The hardest thing for me to deal with was that it had some slow moments that I didn’t think needed to be there. But on the other side of that, if they weren’t there, we wouldn’t have seen the nice performance of Booboo Stewart, who ends up becoming an important fixture. I think because I got caught up in the idea that they need to hurry up and save their grandson, the slow pacing put me on edge… and as the viewer, that’s a good thing.
I also would have liked the big moments to have had a little more intensity or action, but not unhappy with what I got. I think that’s just a matter of preference.
And I just gotta say the landscape of the Dakotas made a beautiful backdrop throughout the entire film.
Although Let Him Go could have been a bit better of a movie, it’s still one of the few good movies that have been coming out over the past few months, and that comes down to the two great leads who told a very emotional story.
