Let’s just start by saying that this is my favorite F’d Up Family Film this year. It was one I had hope would be good, but turned out to be even better.
Now, if you’re just looking at the trailer, it appears to be a very ridiculous story… and it is. But that is actually part of its appeal. Imagine being the brand new member of a family and now you have to partake in a “family tradition” where you’ll most likely end with being dead… Good Times.
I liked the balance of horror and humor in this film. I was able to have a good laugh at some of the craziness and get grossed out at all the blood.
As far as the cast goes, Samara Weaving, is really the best part of the whole movie. At times she was just a fun and happy bride and then as the movie goes on, she becomes a Give That Gun survivor of the worst in-laws ever. Everyone else, except for Adrian Brody and Andie MacDowell, I had no clue who they were but, for me, that helped with selling this over the top scenario, making it enjoyable.
